My Breastfeeding Experience - Part 4 (10th Month)

It has been 10 months plus now.

Actually, my period finally came when Shern was almost 8 months old. During that time, my milk supply did decrease for a short period because of the hormonal changes. After a week or two, my milk supply was back to normal

However, for the past 2-3 weeks, my milk supply has been dwindling down drastically. I am not sure what happened. I have been expressing my milk as usual, every 3-4 hourly. Shern is still suckling direct at night and in the wee hours of the morning.

Now, after 6 hours or more, I can only achieve around 4oz or sometimes even less than that. I also have not been experiencing any letdown since then, which explains the dwindling milk supply.

Well, I guess my time is almost up. My milk ducts may be drying up slowly.

I am still expressing about 2-3 times during the day. And I still have around 100 bottles of EBM stored up in the freezer. This can lasts Shern for another 2 months or so.

Shern is also no more 'craving' to suckle my breasts. I guess he is a big boy now.

Well, I will let nature takes its course. For now, I will still express 'til the right time comes.

Maybe work stress reduces the milk supply?

During my last trip, I noticed many Burmese women breastfeed their children until they are 5yo! I suppose they lead a simple stress free life. :)

No lah Shu Yin. Milk ducts don't dry up unless they are no longer in demand but it might be due to stress, yes.. and the second thing is also.. what you eat and drink. Eating or drinking too cooling stuff for your body might slow down the milk production. I know I always go low in supply.. so low that it makes both Jaden and my life 'shit' because I drank a cup of teh kundur...
