Shern the Four Year Old Ring Bearer

22 June 2013 - The handsome Ring Bearer

It was Chun Hoer & Pauline's Wedding last Saturday, and Shern was requested to be their Ring Bearer. It was Shern's first time being a Ring Bearer!

I had prepped him quite some weeks ago, and Shern was all excited playing the role as the Ring Bearer. He felt important and was excited to walk the isle.

But on the big day itself, Shern was a little nervous.
We did not attend the rehearsal the night before, so we went early to get prepared.

He was dressed smartly in a long-sleeved shirt, and black pants. He was also wearing a black vest with a black bow. Very smart indeed!
Pauline's sister, Viviene was the one who helped prepare Shern. She was very nice and friendly indeed. Shern liked her.

Shern also helped to open the car door, though he had a hard time opening it. Hehe

Shern with the flower girl. The flower girl is 10 yrs old, way bigger and taller than my tiny sized Shern.

Shern getting all ready. He even gave us a V sign while holding the ring pillow :)

But after like 15 minutes of waiting, Shern got a little restless and couldn't wait to perform his role. And it was getting a little bit hot, as Shern was also wearing a few layers of clothes.

And then, at 11am, the ceremony started. Shern walked in front, and he was happy to walk first. Number one, he said.  And then he was followed by the flower girl, and then the bride and groom.

Sorry for the blurry photo. Shern was walking a little bit too fast (He just couldn't walk slow!).

Shern was doing a good job. Walked down the isle alone (though a lil bit too fast!), and stood at the groom's side as rehearsed earlier. Well done!

After that, he came to me and we continued with the whole ceremony.

It was a sweet and simple church wedding.

Chun Hoer & Pauline looked great!

And Shern was given a small token of appreciation.

Khye was there too. And I was glad mum tagged along, as she took care of Khye while I concentrated on Shern.

Khye was sleeping half of the whole ceremony. Hehe. It's so nice being a baby, isn't it?

Shern was happy seeing his friends there, though he was getting a little tired.

Erm, my tiny-sized big boy.  :D

The kids had a good time running around the church, and when my mum asked him if he was feeling hot, Shern said 'Yes, I'm getting warmer and warmer and warmer!' lol.

And it certainly didn't help that Shern was wearing long-sleeved shirt and long pants. And also they turned off the aircond and fan immediately after the service. Bah.
But we were all still waiting there to take photos with the bride and groom.

Shern was sweating like crazy after the running round. And when we proceeded for luncheon at the church cafeteria (the place was hot and stuffy), Shern was a little moody as he was hot and sleepy. So we left straightaway after the food.

And after a good 2 1/2 hrs nap, Shern was all cheerful again, and was ready to attend their Wedding Dinner Reception at Gurney Hotel.

Shern looking all smart and happy when we were about to go for the dinner.

Shern took a photo with the bride and groom!

The 3 of us with Chun Hoer & Pauline.

More photos of Shern with his friends.

And Shern is a hard-core 'yum seng' fan! He didn't like the orange cordial there, so he yum seng-ed with his water bottle, and shouted his lungs out!

I think Shern had fun that day.

And I'm so proud of my big boy for doing such a great job as the Ring Bearer!
Well done, Shern!

Today, Shern remembered how much fun he had in church, so he told me this: 'Mummy, next time please bring me to church, I want to go to a cold church. I don't want to be sweaty!'

Lol. He likes to church but not the sweat. My sweet and innocent boy.

And thank you Chun Hoer & Pauline for asking Shern to be your Ring Bearer. You gave him a most memorable experience!

Shern's 4yo Pirate Themed Birthday Party: Part 2 - The Party

So after showing all of you the deco of the party in Part 1: Decorations, let me now continue to show you the rest of the party.

(Warning: This is a long post with tons of photos!...)

Yes, my big boy Yiu-Shern is 4 years old. How much he has grown.

Shern's face as he walked in and saw the desert table. He was the most happy seeing his Jake and the Neverland Pirate Cake. He gave a nod of approval seeing that it was chocolate flavour as requested. :)

He was not tall enough so I carrier him up for a better view.

Shern then proceeded to greet the guests (more like collecting presents haha!) as they entered the restaurant. He wore his Captain Shern Birthday Pin proudly.

Shern then decided to want to wear his head sash like Jake.

Then at the PIN CAPTAIN HOOK'S MOUSTACHE corner, the kids had some fun there.
Look at Shern having his turn.

And then it was time for group photo sessions before cutting of the cake.

Khye was really sad here because he was separated from me! Khye was in the midst of having Separation Anxiety period, so he was really clingy the whole time there.

So Khye was pretty upset in this photo as he was separated from me, thus his pitiful face. lol.
Pho-pho & Kong-kong with their grandsons.

Ok, back in Mummy's hands, so Khye was all well again.
No perfect photos as there were just too many photographers around. So everyone was looking at different cameras. And it was never easy getting both kids to look and smile at the camera at the same time! This are the bests. :)

Spotted the Pirate Bandanna Bib on Khye? Super cute and very into the theme! This bandanna bib is handmade by the very talented Serene Lee.

Some photos with Ah-Ma & Ah-Kong.
Shern just couldn't stop posing with 4 fingers, telling people he is 4 years old! ;)

A Photo with both sides of the family. Lims and Tans.
I just noticed Khye's mouth is drooping down here. Ooohhh....

Ok, Khye looks better here!

A group photo with the Cheong relatives.

With the Mah relatives. Shern & Khye's cousins. Too bad Huey & Wah went back to their shop.

Ok, time for Friends Group Photos.

Photo with Karen and family...
Shern insisted to hold Tristan's hands here. Those who were there knew what happened. lol.

And then all the kids gathered there singing the Birthday Song to Shern.
Ok, so hubby & I are the big kids too (pardon us coz we were stuck there with the chairs blocking us!)

And then the birthday boy blew the candles...

A rather shy and sweaty birthday boy with all the attention on him.

Cutting of the cake.

A photo of Shern with his beloved Yee-yee.

After that it was outdoor time.
Remember Josie placed a big tub filled with an inch water at the outside of the restaurant? Well, that tub proved to be a hit among kids. They had a blast floating those paper boats in it!

Thank you everyone for the lovely presents and angpows. Shern is really blessed.

And thank you everyone for your time. Thanks for making Shern's 4th birthday a really successful one.
A special thanks to Josie, Swen Lin, Aivin & Blue Reef staff! :)
