This song by Rod Steward is my all-time favourite song.
I'd heard it many times before on the radio or elsewhere. But it was during my mum's friend's wedding which I attended that I felt moved by this song some fifteen years ago.

Since then, this song has become my all-time favourite song which I hope my hubby can sing for me one day. :)

My review: I know. I am probably the last person who watch Avatar. Anyway, it is absolutely one of the best movie I've ever seen. Ok, maybe because of the movie-deprived state I am in (my 1st movie after Shern was born), I may be exaggerating but somehow I simply love this movie.
What makes it even nicer is that I watched it free thanks to GSC Birthday Ticket treat. I find this movie fast-paced and with a good storyline. (I hate movies with no storyline and leave you hanging at the end of it not knowing what the hell you just watched).
Furthermore, this movie does not even need super-famous actors (I don't know who Sam Worthington is. Ok, I guess I'm a noob) and yet it can be so nice.
This movie is out of the ordinary and makes you fantasize of a beautiful world and that there are still nice people out there.

This movie just made me a fan of James Cameron. I love Titanic AND Avatar. :)

Marley & Me

My review: Yes I have read the book. And yes, I admit that the book is always better than the movie.
But somehow I still like this movie. It is slow yet not boring. And although this movie chronicles more around the life of John rather than Marley (I guess it is difficult to ask a dog to act!) , I still like the way they narrate the show.
And of course I cried a bucketful of tears! ;)

What a hectic weekend!

What a hectic weekend for me....i barely had time to breathe. However, one achievement is this > I did not even switch on my laptop for 3 days - Sat, Sun and Mon!

This is gonna be one long post for me. Many things to blog about. Many outings. Met many friends. Ok, let's get started...

Met up with Win Win after the Peter's fortnightly trainings on Sat mornings. She gave me the 2 albums she did for me. Pretty nice and we love it. Kinda wish we can have our wedding all over again :D

Next, met up with Justin & SS, Mich & Wai Min, Chun Hoer and Karen Ooi in Secret Recipe @ Gurney Plaza. Celebrated 3 persons' birthdays - Mich, Karen & Peter. The food was okok - normal SecretRecipe taste. I had Prawn Macaroni while Peter ate "greeny" Fish which looks kinda disgusting but tasted ok :) Peter kept on 'pushing' his greeny fish to me and he 'stole' my delicious prawn macaroni. Haha.

Oh ya...Wai Min's baby will be due in 3 weeks' time. Fuyoh...so fast! She does not look as huge as I thought she would. And she still has a good apetite ;D

Went back and parents fetched me to Miraku @ G-Hotel to meet up with the gang - CPTarians good 'ol gang! Luckily MY arrived there on time (just like me!). The rest was late...with Peen being the latest (still doing facial, kononnya!)...hahaha!
OK...dowanna say so much bout this. I feel like dedicating a post just for this outing!

I wokeup on Sunday with a headache. Slept til late morning and then watched a few episodes of Smallville Season 7. We ordered Pizza Hut delivery - 1300 88 2525. I need to sing the song of the delivery number before I start dialing. Yummy...sweet and spicy wings!

Reached Gurney Plaza at 2.15pm just in time for our movie The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Watched it with Justin, SS, Chun Hoer and Karen (yesterday's secret recipe gang minus Mich & WaiMin). Before I watched it, everyone else was telling me how bad is the show. So I went in there with low expectations. But then watching halfway, it was kinda ok...watch-able! :D


After the movie, we went over to Midlands 1-stop for the Popular Sale. Stayed there for 2-3 hrs and went home with our hands full and pockets empty. Spent RM250...of books and CDs!

Rushed home to watch Lee Chong Wei in action to grab Malaysia's first ever gold medal in Olympics! But it was a disappointment. Chong Wei was not up to Lin Dan's standard at all during the finals! Anyway, he still did a great job by going this far and he succeeded in bringing home the only silver medal for Malaysia in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games!

Fuyoh....whole weekend gone in a blink of an eye! :D

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

We watched Hellboy II: The Golden Army yesterday at GSC Gurney Plaza yesterday. Yes, i know we are a little late on watching this movie, but we were very busy a few weeks back! I was a little surprised that our last visit to the cinema was watching Indiana Jones.

My review: I don't like Hellboy's "show-off" attitude. But his dont care-ish ways to hide his identity makes the show witty and fun. I like the part when his gf asked him this ""Do you need everyone to love you? Or am I enough?". It makes the movie so romantic and touching.

A few things have changed since the debut Hellboy I. Hellboy a.k.a. Red and Liz are now a semi-settled couple, although their typical issues--he doesn't like her touching his stuff; she wishes he'd leave less of it lying around--tend to be resolved with more than the typical fireworks.
In this sequel, Red is battling with his emotions of understanding and loving the human over his own kind. I guess Hellboy III will be even more exciting with a darker side of Red showing more significantly I predict.

All in all, I like this kind of superhero movies where good always rules over evil. It makes this world a better place to live in. A good show i must say.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry

A few people asked me for review on the Chuck & Larry movie which I mentioned I watched the DVD on my 'Lazy Sunday - June 22, 2008'.

So here is a synopsis and my review on "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry"

***Chuck Levine (Adam Sandler) and Larry Valentine (Kevin James) are the pride of their fire station: two guy's guys always side-by-side and willing to do anything for each other. Grateful Chuck owes Larry for saving his life in a fire, and Larry calls in that favor big time when civic red tape prevents him from naming his own two kids as his life insurance beneficiaries. But when an overzealous, spot-checking bureaucrat becomes suspicious, the new couple's arrangement becomes a citywide issue and goes from confidential to front-page news. Forced to improvise as love-struck newlyweds, Chuck and Larry must now fumble through a hilarious charade of domestic bliss under one roof. After surviving their mandatory honeymoon and dodging the threat of exposure, the well-intentioned con men discover that sticking together in your time of need is what truly makes a family***

My review: I find the movie very typical Adam Sandler-ish - full of laughter and enjoyment. Actually comedy is not my type (I prefer mind-provoking heart-warming movies) but I must admit I had a good time watching this show together with darlin'. It is an entertaining movie with lots of good quote and jokes, altough the storyline is rather predictable.
7.0/10 rating from me!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

The last time I watched movie with my parents was 11 years ago in 1997 when I used my part-time job salary to treat my parents to watch Titanic starring Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet. I still remembered my dad fell asleep during the beginning part of movie and woke up when Titanic sank. That was the "action" part which he likes. The "lovey-dovey" part he does not enjoy. Hahaha.

We watched the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on last Wednesday - which is a movie day. RM6/ticket - 40% cheaper than normal price. Mum, dad, ah-yee, Min, Peter & I watched the 9.30pm show. Too bad Wen is in KL - if not, it will be a family event! Surprisingly, dad did not fall asleep this time although the movie ends at 11.45pm. Good work, dad!

OK now..let's get to the show review. It was a disappointment to me. Maybe because I had high expectations of it. Before i watched it, I already heard reviews from friends saying the show is just "ok ok nya", but I refused to believe in it because I love the previous Indiana Jones movies. I love the Temple of Doom, Raiders of the Lost Ark & Last Crusade.
However, when I watched Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, i find the pace a bit "slow" and less exciting. I find less action in the movie and also the storyline not that good.

Harrison Ford still looks gaya but a 'lil old of coz. All in all, it was below my expectations. I think I can give it only 5.5/10 marks....considering it is a Steven Spielberg film starring Harrison Ford.

Anyway, if you are still a fan of Indiana Jones (like me!), there is an official Indiana Jones website which is quite an interesting to explore.

Iron Man

Peter & I must be the last few people who watch Iron Man movie. I mean...we asked everyone and they all told us the same answer "Watched already lah". Peter's butt was itching and he couldn't wait to lay his eyes on this supposedly action-packed movie.

We then checked gsc.com.my and decided to watch the 11.45am movie. To our surprised, it was only RM6/ticket as it was a 'before 12noon screening'.

So how was the movie? It was AWESOME, way better than i expected. It lived up to Peter's expectations as everyone else said it is a nice movie (with the exception of ChoonHung :P).

I personally like Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia "Pepper" Potts in Iron Man. I find her fresh and witty and loyal. Peter complains that there is not enough action/fighting scene though, but I think it is OK. The director took enough time to build up the characters.

All in all, we think it is one of the best movie we've watched in 2008! And with just RM6/ticket, it was a steal!
