Yiu-Shern - week 22

8 Nov 2009

Yiu-Shern's 22 weeks Milestone

Paediatrician
Took Shern to see Dr. Dan for his 5th month checkup on the 5th Nov 2009, Thursday. Was only given the last dose of Rotavirus vaccine orally. No jabs this round.

However, Shern was in a bad mood that day. Even before I laid him down the weighing scale, he was already making sobbing noises. When Dr. Dan gave him the Rotavirus vaccine orally, he was wailing away. But he calmed down after I picked him up momentarily.

He did not grow very much heavy in weight this time around. Only 0.35kg more compared to previous month *phew
Dr. Dan commented that 7.85kg is a very healthy weight for 5-month olds.

Shern's growth measurement:
Age - 5 months @ 5 Nov 2009
Weight - 7.85 kg
Length/Height - 62 cm
Head Circumference - 42cm

I did not carry him to the hospital. I put him into his pass-me-down 2nd hand Chicco stroller. What a great relief for my arms. Shern was pretty much OK sitting inside as long as the stroller is moving and there are things to see (busy people walking by, kids running around).

You Smile At Him, He'll Smile At You
Yes, this is what Shern'll do when you smile at him. He will smile right back at you. He smiled to my friend the other day when she came for a visit. Even to strangers. Everyone will therefore say he is such a smile-y baby.

2 Nov 2009 - Big Smile

Everything Into The Mouth
Everything that Shern manages to grab goes into his mouth. Needless to say, all his toys visited Shern's tongue before. Haha.

His new toy Freddie the Firefly is also not spared.

4 Nov 2009 - Sitting on Min-yee's bed

Anyway, I need to be extra careful as not to leave small objects around. It would be more worrisome when comes the time when Shern can crawl.

Happy Tummy Time
Shern loves to be on his tummy. He likes this position way better than on his back!
Although sometimes just after his milk, he will burp out the milk if he is being put on this position.

7 Nov 2009 - Tummy time

Turning Sideways
Look at how Shern turn on his side - twisting all the way trying to reach his box of toys by the side?

7 Nov 2009 - Sitting on Bumbo playing with his toys

People Recognition
Shern seems to be able to recognize people now. He is ok smiling at strangers but if they try to carry him, Shern will look at them and then give out a loud wail, with big tears rolling down his cheeks.

3 of Us At Home Again
Parents & Ah Yee went for a holiday, thus 3 of us stayed at home. Min came over every night to have dinner with us. Peter went out to work on certain days, so left me & Shern.

It is fun at times to be alone with Shern. Other times, it is like being in jail with Shern.

However, I get to see all of Shern's many expressions. See these expressions captured on my Ixus 110.

Shern's Golden Smiles - 6 Nov 2009

Swimming
The week ended with Shern went for his first swim in our apartment's swimming pool. (read here and here to read more on Shern's swimming encounters)

How Is Mummy Doing?

Many wedding dinners to attend as it is now year-end and suddenly realized that I have no clothes to wear. I've been wearing the same dress to dinners of different groups of friends...hoping that people don't recognize that it is the same dress! :P

Happy Shern In The Pool

We went down the pool once again yesterday because hubby wanted to swim with Shern. (in actual, both of then don't even know how to swim!)

Shern of course did not mind. Look at his happy face sitting on his Floaties, his legs kicking away....

Shern's First Swim

It was Shern's first swim - his first time going down our apartment's swimming pool.

Before we brought him down, I googled about bringing 5-months old to swim in chlorinated water - it seems like it is OK as long as it is not for too long and make sure we bathe him after that.

Well, Shern was so excited when he saw the other kids there playing around. He did not even bother to look at Min & I when when wanted to capture him on camera.

His eyes were darting here and there and he kicked his legs excitedly.

15 mins later, we pulled him out from the pool and wrapped him up in his towel. Up to our apartment for a warm bath.

I would say that Shern's first swim was a success - he had a blast of a time!

My Top 5 Treat List

So what is My Top 5 Treat List?

Me being a wife to Peter, mummy to Shern, sis to Wen & Min, daughter to my parents or just being plain 'ol me has too many treats I want. I seem to want everything.

Well, there is no harm in dreaming, right? (throw away thoughts of 'Do I have enough money for Shern's tertiary edu?' 'Do I have enough for our retirement?' aside)

1. My Dream House

No, it is not a huge mansion with a swimming pool. I just want a medium-sized double or triple storey house with a small garden just like the pic above. I can imagine myself living there organizing everything - with a maid of coz! *grin

2. My Dream Holiday

I don't hany any specific destination - it could be anywhere in the world...as long as my whole family goes with me.

Yes, the entire family - hubby, me & Shern, my parents, my sis, my ah-yee! All off to somewhere relaxing and nice.
5-Star Hotels with fluffy pillows and great service. Delicious dining. Wonderful weather.
Enjoying it all without feeling the pinch in our pockets.

3. My Dream Spa

I think I need a much deserved spa relaxation. A place where it is full of greens. A place of serenity and tranquility.
Being a SAHM (Stay At Home Mummy) to 5 months old Shern is indeed exhausting. Shern needs 24/7 watching. Just talking about the middle-of-the-nights-wakings is making me shiver. My back aches. My arms ache. My whole body years for a massage.

4. My Dream Library

I am a book lover.
Not those non-fiction books. Not those self-motivation books.
I am a fiction / novels addict.
I dream of a library like the pic above inside my dream house.

5. My Dream Laptop: DELL Inspiron 13

As you all know, my Dell Inspiron 1420 was stolen by the stupid burglar less than 2 months ago. I really need a laptop of my own soon.

So why Dell Inspiron 13?
Well, 'Outer Beauty, Inner Strength' says it all.
The stylish and sleek Cherry Red colour laptop is making me drool.

Some of the features I like is the
wireless capability of it. It has an enhanced wireless support of up to 802.11n connections so you will never have problems connecting to the up-to-date wireless networks.
It also produces crystal clear definition that is amazing with the 13.3¨ Hi-def display with a 1366 x 768 resolution and with a 16:9 aspect ratio as well as a 720p picture.

Outer beauty coupled with powerful performance - ah...who can resist this?

(Note: You can use this special coupon code 7ZQVQF2RLZRKW3 from Dell that would allow any of you to purchase a Dell Inspiron 13 (S510701MY) with RM100 Instant Cash Redemption! This promotion is only available online or by calling Dell at 1800-88-0301. This coupon code expires on the 5th of November 2009.)

Baby Shern - week 21 - 29 Oct 2009

Peter & I were celebrating a quiet 2 years anniversary on 27th Oct 09. To make things more meaningful, our good friend Win Win offerred to take pics of Shern in conjunction with our anniversary.

She came in the morning when Shern just woke up. Snapped shots of him going through his normal routine - bathe, change, play...

Look at her amazing photography skills....

Thanks a lot Win Win. You are amazing as always!

Goodbye Soft Toys

Look at the amount of soft toys my 2 sis and I collected over the years? (actually, there are more! some were already given away or somehow got lost among our rubbish)

Well, these are the ones that we will be donating to Tzu Chi or the Salvation Army. We picked only about a dozen of them - those that we could not bear to part with them even though some of them lost an eye, etc. :) (Wen, your Monko)

Many ask me to keep for Shern. Well, I did. I kept some colourful ones for Shern. But I think Shern has enough soft toys. And it gives me excuse to buy new ones in the future.

I hope these will bring a smile to those children receiving it. I know they will be going to good homes - to the hands of the children who loves them and bring them to bed with them. Rather than with us stuffed inside plastic bags into the top of the wardrobe.

Zooming in the lens.......

But let me declare something here. I would NEVER, EVER give Labbit away. (I even successfully persuaded Min to give me hers - as my Labbit's successor - (shit...is that what do you call it?)

If you peeps know me well, you will know that I sleep with a sweet-smelly rabbit called 'Labbit' which I LOVE more than Peter. Muahahahaha..... :D

p/s-Ndru, please don't ill-comment my Labbit ;P
