Yiu-Shern - week 13

2 Sep 2009

Yiu-Shern's 13 weeks Milestone

Paediatrician
Took Shern to see Dr. Dan for his 3rd month checkup on the 4th Sep. Was given the Rotavirus vaccine orally. He also got his 2nd dose of the 5-in-1 jab (DTPa, Polio & Hib)* on his thigh. He was screaming away even BEFORE he was given the jab. It was because he was sleeping soundly in my arms and then we woke him up to weigh him, measure him, etc.

Shern's growth measurement:
Age - 3 months @ 4 Sep 2009
Weight - 6.6 kg
Length/Height - 57 cm
Head Circumference - 40cm

Sad to say that he was down with fever (although the jab at Island Hospital was supposed to reduce the side effects such as fever). The ear thermometer beeped in red at 38.4 °C. I panicked and quickly gave him the prescribed strawbery-flavoured infant paracetamol. After sponging him, his came down quite fast and that was it.
Shern was back to normal the following morning.

Feeding
My baby has grown. He is now drinking 4oz EBM every 2-3 hourly. It will come to a time SOON when I will not have enough breastmilk for him.
Well, I'll cross the bridge when I come across it.

Sleeping
Shern is not sleeping through the night yet - I guess he won't as long as I'm still breastfeeding him because I still need him to relieve my breasts engorgement :)

Development
Shern's eyes can 'shoot' from left-to-right, right-to-left super fast now. It'.s pretty amazing seeing his eyes following an object.

While doing mini 'push-ups', his head is now more steady and no more bobbing in the air.

He is getting very smart. He wants attention - wants people to talk to him and he will coo back happily. Leave him alone in his cot and he will cry (without tears). He will also cry (without tears) if you lay him down everytime, even during nappy changes.

He wants to be carried when he is awake too - and mind you, not just the normal cradle carry, he wants to be carried high up so that he can see the world spins by.
And because his neck is not yet stable, one of our hands need to be used to support his neck, therefore leaving only the other hand to support his weight.
And carrying 6.6kg is no easy feat. After 5 mins or so, you will start to feel his weight - and he is damn heavy. I cannot imagine carrying him this way when he gets any heavier!

My naughty baby wants to be rocked to sleep in our arms. Any arms will do. As long as he feels safe there. Sigh....

Look at Shern's mischievous face in these photos:

2 Sep 2009 - Puh..lease...mummy....please give me my milk-milk. I promise I will be good.

How Is Mummy Doing?

Received the Philips Avent ISIS Manual On-The-Go Breastpump as a gift from friends. Been using it since last week and it is great. (Will write a review soon)

My bra size has definitely been increased to well...erm...quite a lot compared to last time when I wore cup A.
So do I like it?
The answer is NO. I prefer my old size....isn't it ironic? (It's the truth!)
