1 November 2012 - Week 7

Breastfeeding

The above photo is one of my favourites. It shows a contented baby after feed. This motivated me to continue breastfeeding although I was in very much pain.
I was actually at the peak of my pain at Week 7. There was once I actually told my mum I didn't know if I could carry on. The pain was quite unbearable at some points. But I was glad I persevered. 

To get my mind off the pain, I did my very first layout of Khye.
I did it when Khye was sleeping. Took me about an hour to finish this layout and I love it. Doing scrapbooking always lifts my mood and is a form of destress for me. I love to tussle with beautiful papers and crafts.

Mini Push-Ups

I caught Khye doing some min push-ups when I put him on his tummy. Too bad I did not take any photos of videos of him doing it. That reminds me to buy a new camera soon. My point-and-shoot Canon Ixus 110 IS is getting a little cranky lately.
I've been using my iPhone4 to snap photos lately, but when there is little light, my iPhone sucks!


Smiles

Khye has been smiling quite often these days. It is relatively easy to make him smile. Just make eye contact with him and talk to him, and he will just smile back at you!

In His Stroller

Very often Khye sits quietly in his stroller when we bring him out. When he is awake, he would look at Freddie the Dragonfly toy. He seems vert fascinated with it and could look at it for quite a long time.

Of course at times he does make a fuss too. At that time, then I would need to carry him up and cuddle him for a bit. After he settles down, then I put him down in his stroller again.
So far so good for Khye sitting in his stroller, so he has been going out more compared to Shern when he was a baby.

Going Out

I do bring Khye out quite a lot, especially in the mornings when Shern is in playschool. We go out for breakkie and I enjoy my time out with the little man in the house.

Sleeping

I would be very happy to see Khye yawns like this, especially when it is night time.

Basically Khye is not sleeping through the night yet. I do not expect him so as I am still breastfeeding him exclusively.After his last feed at about 11pm, Khye wakes up for feed about twice in the night, once at about 2-3am, and another time at 5-6am.

I feel that waking up 2-3 times in the middle of the night is OK. I guess I am used to it.
I am already thankful that it is not every hour of the night! ;)

Khye & Shern Lookalike

I'm so blessed to have these 2 boys in my life.
The 3 1/2 year-old super cheeky pre-schooler, and the 1 1/2 month-old infant who sucks up all my beauty sleep. Haha.

Awake Time

Birdie and Flower Fan

Khye has got a new friend, the yellow birdie on his rocker. haha. He seems to like it as he keeps staring at it. I guess it is because it is of nearer range for him than the other 2 hanging toys on his rocker.

Bath Time

Just like his big bro, Khye loves bath time too, even at such a young age. Sometimes he would cry when I take off his clothes, but the moment I put him in his bath tub, he stops crying. I love this tub, as even at 6 weeks old, he could sit quite steadily on the non-slip back pads with some support from me.

Outings

Khye has been following me everywhere coz he was on direct-latch and I can't express then due to my nipple tears and cuts. So I've been searching for baby friendly places, and also places which are not too crowded. But then almost everywhere mummy goes, baby Khye follows.

Self-Expressions

Khye might not be able to talk yet, but he has a lot of expressions or ways to tell me things. I know his expressions when he is does his poo-poo.
And I know his expressions and sounds when he wets his diapers and wants to be changed. Yes, he dislikes the wet feeling.

And when he is awake, he likes to do this whistling expression, and he also often furrows his brows like he is frowning or deep in thoughts.

Shern's School Concert

Last Saturday was an exciting day for all of us. It was Shern's concert day. It was his first ever concert, but we were all more excited for him. Haha.
Oh...Shern having his first concert means my boy is growing up...

In truth, we did not exactly know what he would be doing at the concert. Well, we knew the song and the dance routine a little because he came home and danced for us many times. But we didn't know what the exact costume he would be wearing, because he only brought back part of the costume.

There was a little chaos at home in the morning. We were supposed to let the 2-3 year old kids wear diapers on that day, but Shern refused to wear them. I tried to explain to him that today is concert day and is different from other days so he needed to wear them, but he still refused. So in the end I gave up and only put the diapers in his school bag and would let the teachers deal with him.

We got him ready in time and this was the face he gave me in our apartment lift when I asked him to smile. :)

He was in a better mood when we reached WOU, and he even asked for a picture next to a coconut tree. We left him there at WOU at 9am and we went home.  

 

The concert started at 12 noon and the auditorium door would only open at 11.45pm as stated in the tickets.

But by the time we reached there, there was already a long queue in front of us. Oh no..
By the way, there were 9 of us watching Yiu-Shern the star performing if you include Khye, haha.
Ah-Ma, Ah-Kong, Pho-pho, Kong-kong, Yee-pho, Yee-yee, Daddy and Mummy and baby Khye...all 9 of us

Theme of the concert was Disney Movie Music Magic!

It started off with slideshows of the school activities, and I caught sight of the picture of Shern with Pho-pho in a school outing (Hubby & I were in Melb).

Shern's performance was the 4th one which for 2-3 year olds dancing to The Little Mermaid's Under The Sea.

They have impressive slideshows all throughout the concert....tada...starring...

From his expression, I could see that he was not very happy at the beginning of the dance. Most probably due to tiredness and he woke up at 8am and it was about 12.30pm when he performed. So he was not dancing his best. He did some steps and did not do some.
We could even see a little girl at the other side of the stage crying and the teacher had to take her away.
I guess some of them were a little in awe of the audience. Imagine about a hundred or so audience watching your perform for the first time.

But in the middle of the dance, he caught on the drift and started to enjoy himself and danced more properly.

Besides that dance, Shern also joined the Finale where they sang Cinderella's A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes.

Everybody comes out and there was a surprise at the end of the song.
Everyone stood up and danced Oppa Gangnam Style. Shern was so happy dancing it that he danced 'til he fell down and got up again and continued dancing. Hahaha...Cute!

After the concert ended, we took a few photos with Shern in his costume.

But I could see that he was tired and hungry. Thank goodness Ah-Ma bought some Apom and he ate a few pieces of it.

A group photo of us, but too bad Ah-Ma and Ah-Kong went home already.

Shern was still eating when we were leaving. Upon reaching our apartment, Ah-Kong carried him out from the car and he fell asleep before reaching the lift. That was like less than a minute, and he was already snoring away....he was very very tired!

No good videos of the concert day to share (will wait for the videos by the professionals).
But meanwhile, if you are interested, here is a video of Shern rehearsing to Under The Sea back at home about 3 months ago.

Overall, it was a fabulous concert. The school put in a lot of effort and I applaud them tremendously. And I'm also proud of Shern.
