Yiu-Khye - Week 10

Week 10 - 16 November 2012

Week 9 is from 16th - 22nd November 2012. Khye is 2 months and 2 weeks old.
The above photo was taken during our outing to Gurney Plaza, Penang.


Vision

I noticed he now can see much clearer and much further.
See him looking at me although I was standing up above him. Khye lifted his head up and watched me with his eyes, following me wherever I move.

Drooling

Just like the men in the family, he drools when he sleeps. Haha.
Actually Khye drools when he is awake too, since he started putting his fingers into his mouth.



Sleeping

Khye as usual sleeps like an angel most of the time. He can sleep with background noises too such as tv sounds, or chatting sounds. No problem. Just no sudden loud sound which might startle him.

Overall, he sleeps easily. He especially loves it when put into the bouncer, which he sleeps in at Pho-pho's place.

He was still in dreamland that we hadn't the heart to carry him out from the seat in case we stirred him up, so we used it as a carrier (something we rarely do, because it is very heavy!). I blogged about it here.

Getting Longer

Khye is getting longer. Khye is now longer than his changing mat. It will soon be time when he could no longer fit in there!

Kong-kong

When Khye was younger, Kong-kong did not dare to carry him, coz he said he is too 'soft' as he still had no head control. Now that Khye is 10 weeks old, he has sorta toughen up and has a little better head control, so Khye was carried by Kong-kong for the first time! Yay!

Penang Turf Club Expo 2012

The last time we went, it was 2 years ago when Shern was 1 1/2 yo. We missed last year because we were in Cape Town.

This year, with Shern being 3 1/2 yo, we decided to bring him there again as he is much bigger and could enjoy more. Khye stayed at home with Pho-pho.

We reached there at 10am and the car park was already quite full with cars. There were so many people earlier than us.

After we parked our car, we walked through the horses' stables and a horse-y smell greeted us. To tell the truth, it stank!
Surprisingly, Shern was very interested in the horses. He saw the different horses there and he even had a favourite horse.

This is his favourite horse, Sarah.
Shern kept on saying, Hi, Sarah, my name is Yiu-Shern! :)

 

Next to Sarah was Little Squaw and Shern was brave enough to pet Little Squaw. But when the man asked Shern if he would like to open his palm to feed Little Squaw, Shern hesitated for a moment and said 'Erm...later'. Lol.

After that we showed Shern the shoeing of horses.
It looked pretty rough the way the man did the horseshoeing on the horse's hoof and it kind of scared Shern, but I assured Shern that the horse is not hurt. It is just like how I cut Shern's toenails.

Unlike the last time, Shern no more cries when he saw the clowns. He even high-fived them and took photos with them!
He was amazed with one who stood on stilts and exclaimed that the clown 'has such long legs'!

We then showed Shern the horse racing tracks and he said 'just like the car racing tracks, but is on grass! So clever!

He even had a hand at a throwing game, which he didn't throw on target, but yet the lady gave him lots of candies! He was so happy!

Then, it was Pony Riding time.
Hubby & I were initially not sure if Shern dared to ride on the pony alone (only for children). Asked Shern several times if he was sure and he said yes.
So below Shern was holding the pony ride ticket. Only RM3 per ride.

There were 2 person who accompanied Shern riding the pony and made sure everything was alright.

Shern was so happy after riding it and told me he was not scared!
And that the pony went 'klok klok klok'! :)

After that balloon time. Shern got a free balloon!
Then it was ice-cream time. Shern had a traffic-light ice lolly!

Then we went for a quick look at the stalls at the bazaar.

After that just before we went home, Shern asked to see Sarah again. Told you that is his favourite horse!
So happy we managed to bring Shern there! He certainly enjoyed himself!

Yiu-Khye - Week 9

9 November 2012 - Week 9

Week 9 is from 9th - 15th November 2012.
It's the week where I brought Khye for his 2-month old check-up. And the week which I found out Khye weighs a hefty 6.1kg. Look at the top photo of Khye with his double-chin.

Khye's Measurement @ 2 months old

Weight: 6.1kg
Length/Height: 58.5cm
Head Circumference: 40cm

No wonder I felt that he is so heavy every time I carry him with my bare hands. Then I decided I need to get a baby carrier.



Putting Hands Into His Mouth

Khye found his hands and put them into his mouth starting this week. Most of the time is his right hand. So his mittens are now smeared with his saliva and need to be changed frequently.

Eyes Following Object Really Well

Khye's eyes are really following object really well. I am quite often the object. Look at his eyes following me although I am looking at him from atop, aerial view.

And Khye now looks at his Freddie the Dragonfly every time we hang it in the stroller for him. He doesn't seem to get bored with it and could stare at it for a very long time.
I love Lamaze toys, both my sons always seem to be very fascinated by them.

Khye is also very fascinated with his Ocean Wonders cot mobile. Look at his eyes following it, and him smiling at it.

Breastfeeding

Since I am mostly at home, I do direct latching more in order for him not to forget how to latch on properly (since the paci incident that led to me having nipple cuts and tears).
He seems to be getting alright and latch on right away every time I put my breasts near to him.

Sleep Patterns

Khye sleeps in many ways.
Sometimes he sleeps straight like this.

Car Seat

Khye sleeps happily in his car seat most of the time.

But we haven't been doing long journey yet, so I don't know how he will fare. Furthest is from Tanjung Bungah to Greenlane area and he is alright.

Hopefully he sits there alright until he gets big, and not like his brother who started to hate his car seat once he reached 6 mo.
