KL Trip - Sunway Pyramid

Peter @ SPCC Mum, Dad, Peter & I went down to KL last weekend as Peter's CFA Level 2 exams was held in Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre (SPCC). I guess the pressure was on Peter - my parent tagging along to KL, just so to give him moral support and of coz for us to go shopping! Pardon the blur pic - it was taken using my mobile Nokia 6300.

Hotel Sun Inns

We stayed in a budget hotel called Sun Inns Hotel near SPCC as it would be more convenient for Peter. Sun Inns Hotel is very affordable. Only RM110 for family room (4 person), consists of a double bed and also a double decker bed. The bed mattress wasn't too comfortable as Peter & I had bodyaches when we wokeup. It has a/cond and also a wall fan. The wall fan creaks and it was quite annoying.
But one main thing I don't like about our room is that it doesn't have a window! Actually, it has a small window in the bathroom but it was not open-able. Imagine if there is any emergency, we would not be able to escape easily.
And because of the lack of windows in most rooms (we saw the floor plan), the air circulation was not good, thus it smells funny - like stale air.
But all in all, as nothing happened during our stay there, i must say it saves us some money by staying there. But then, I don't think I will ever go back to the same room again - a room WITH a window is a MUST for me!

Tony Roma's @ Sunway PyramidOn our 1st day, we had lunch at Tony Roma's @ Sunway Pyramid. That was my 1st visit to Tony Roma's. I've heard good reviews about Tony Roma's from many people and I am happy I got to try it out myself. We tried Tony's Sampler - which was a trio of appetizers - Red Hot Buffalo Wings, Spinach Dip and our signature Onion Loaf matched with Bleu cheese dressing, salsa, sour cream and our house BBQ dipping sauce. And also Bountiful Beef Ribs - Basted with TR’s Original sauce. The portion was so BIG that it was enough to feed 6 hungry people. We were served unlimited bread with some kind of garlic sauce all through dinner as well. Good authentic American food with plenty of sauces. I like the fact that it serves non-greasy food.

Another highlight of our trip to KL is the fact that I bought many beautiful clothes and shoes. And for once, I did not buy any bags. Oh...mum is a bionic woman when it comes to shopping! She shopped non-stop. Never once stopped for a rest or leg-pain, etc...unless we called for it! We shopped mainly in Sunway Pyramid, and only went to 1-Utama as there was a golf fair and dad wanted to buy a Driver for a leftie, though he could not find one that suits him. Sunway Pyramid alone is big enough for us first-timers. The shops there wasn't too "high class" - unlike KLCC which most brand there were Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, Coach, etc...too expensive for me. Sunway Pramid has Nichii, FOS, NafNaf, Vincci, etc. :P

Rajini's & Somanaeswari's Wedding - 6 June 2008

It was a very colourful wedding...my first time witnessing Indian wedding ceremony. Soma is my ex-classmate in CPT and also my good friend. I cannot believe Rajini & her were a couple since she was in form 2. 12 years of courtship and finally, finally...she is now Mrs. Rajini.

Soma did not sleep for the whole night yesterday, she just managed to catch approx 40 winks and then time for her make-up. Needless to say, she looks fabulous - when I said fabulous, i mean FABULOUS...no one would ever guessed that this is the girl who has been awake for more than 24 hours!

Indian wedding ceremony is so culture-rich! There are so many ceremonious things need to be done and every one seemed so busy helping with this and that! Mindy, Mun Yi, Jasmine & I were there - proud being Soma's friends and happily clicking our cameras away...trying to capture the colourful wedding.

Enjoy the pictures:

Oh ya, i have to mention this: Mindy wasn't late today! Something worth mentioning. So this proves that Mindy can be early when she wants to...especially for something as important as Soma's wedding. And what's more, Mindy looks great in the "cheongsam inspired punjabi suit"!
Jas look as lovely as ever! I guess Mun Yi and I were the only odd ones out as we wore western-style clothing! Anyway...it was a beautiful day with nice company. That makes everything great!

That's all for now. Soma, have a happy wedding dinner reception tomorrow (so sorry I can't make it). And please learn the delicious fried chicken recipe from your mum asap! Can't wait to visit your place again next Deepavali :)

Petrol Price Increase...Ubah Gaya Hidup!

I was so thankful I pumped petrol yesterday afternoon before the whole "petrol crazy" thingy started. I was stucked in the traffic jam for 2 hours from Bayan Lepas to Island Glades. Actually, the jam only started near to Tesco from the Coastal Highway because so many cars are queuing up to refill their tank at Carltex (next to Tesco). That was Bomb 1.

Bomb 2 is those drivers were blocking my way into the Island Glades turning. I could not turn left even though the the traffic light was green. The cars would not budge as they were queuing up for the Shell station further up. I was stucked there...only there... for about half an hour. Bah!

But this 78 sen petrol price increment is definitely a pinch felt. Actually...not a pinch...but a punch! It is 40.62% price increase - a very significant increase!
This is definitely going to cause a chain reaction and everything else will go UP UP UP!
Sigh...what to do? Like the government say "Ubah Gaya Hidup!"
But how much or to what extend can we change our lifestyle?

For me personally, I am going to practise "reduce, reuse & recycle" to the max!
It is not that I don't practise this before :P , but I am going to REALLY do everything possible within my means.

I, Tan Shu-Yin pledge to:
  • Switch off all the laptops power switch every night before I sleep.
  • Turn off the tap while brushing my teeth.
  • Turn off the shower while washing my hair/body.
  • Reuse all the empty pasta sauce bottles to keep stuff.
  • Not buying any clothings as I have loads in my wardrobe.
  • Resist the temptations to buy magazines.
  • Save the environment by minimizing the use of plastic bags and disposable chopsticks.

But all in all, even though we "Ubah Gaya Hidup" and "Ikat Perut", it is only until a certain extend. I guess we need to think of ways on how to earn more, rather than spend less! Or better still, earn more AND spend less. Ahhhh....

p/s - Oh ya...yesterday's line dancing class was great! "My Girl" is now officially one of my favourite dance :)

My Girl Line Dance - by Wendy Teh

Arghh..both my line dancing partners are bullying me. They "forced" me to teach a new dance today titled "My Girl - by Wendy Teh".
As I have not even learned the dance yet and it was already 1pm. And I am supposed to leave my hse by 3.30pm to IDT and teach there.
Now I know...when I am nervous, I couldn't memorize steps. I started at the stepsheet and the stepsheet stared back at me. Shitz.
I forced my mind black to absorb the steps and learn it within the next hour.

The title of this song is Never Say Goodbye. It is from a Korean drama theme song.
I love the song. The song is now singing in my head all the time. I think I must have listened more than 20 times in 1 hr :P

Hope everything goes alright later. If attendance is full, approximately 15 ppl will laugh at me later if I mess it up.
Kah Mun...u better help me later. Lee Sun...u better appear later.

I need more than 24 hrs a day

My days seem so full suddenly. 24 hrs now is not enough for me!

I wake up very early every morning to ensure I reach the office in time for the 8.30am AIG IT training. Because it is my first week there, trainings last 'til around noon. Then, we will head to AIA and Public Mutual to finish our work - submit applications, forms, etc. Then we will go back home and I will start our paperwork. Afternoon naps are now a luxury to me.

Without realizing the time, the clock ticks 7pm and we will drive to my mum's place nearby for dinner. By the time we reach home, it is 8.30pm. After some housework, time to check my 2 emails and blogs. I have 2 email accounts to reply to - work & personal. And 2 blogs to update - work and personal.

We now sleep at around midnight. This is bad! Even when I was in IDT, I don't sleep this late. And every morning when the alarm rings at 7am...I will groan and grumble....
Argghh....is this my life now?

Disney's Beauty & The Beast ...here we come!

Lumiere & Cogsworth

Wen, Min & me bought the RM150 seats. Expensive, huh? This is the 2nd cheapest ticket price available! Yeah...still pricey!
Anyway, this will be my first time watching a broadway musical. I know I am gonna love it - we know practically ALL...and I mean ALL the songs in this movie.

Peter is not watching it as he said "I will use the RM150 to buy books i love"...haha...
But he will be following me down to KL. And we will probably spend a few days in KL shopping and spending some time with Wen.

Home-made Pizzas Yet Again

2 Tuna Pizzas & 2 Pork Ham Pizzas We ate pizza again for dinner - but this time my whole family came to my apartment to eat my home-made pizza! Dad, mum, ah-yee & min.

I tried new flavour this time. Tuna flavour and also with pork ham. Mum & ah-yee make mashed potatos and also fruit salad. I opened 2 cans of longan. And i make guai leng gou. My guai leng gou is always in high demand whenever i make it..haha..im so proud.
