Down
Today, I am down.
I don't feel good when I am being treated this way.
You make me feel like I am such a chore to you.
I don't feel loved by you.

Yiu-Shern - week 28
69 cm in length as of last week's measurement at the paed.
Visit to Pat Patterson
Pat is Peter's relative and she is a very healthy lady despite her age. This is her first time she saw Shern when we went over her place to visit her.
Laughing Buddha
Janette sis used to always call Shern Laughing Buddha when she sees his laughing face i posted in Facebook.
Clever Shern
I love this photo. I love his expression on this photo. He looks so clever and so matured.
-Feeling happy to be buying Christmas presents to family and friends. No, we don't really celebrate Christmas but we indulge in the joy of giving. ;)
Shern's Two Favourite Solid Food
I believe in letting Shern try and enjoy a wide spread of different flavours and textures. Not just the boring porridge or 'moi' all the time.
I read online baby food recipes and try to cook them for Shern.
But most of the time, I make up my own recipe based on what ingredients there are at mum's house. ;)
Because I prefer Shern to take meat only at 7 months, I am now feeding him vegetables and fruits.
Shern loves below 2 recipes and always finished up a small bowl of them.
Apple and Pear Brown Rice (http://www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com/)
2 oz (1/4 cup) brown rice
4 fl oz (1/2 cup) apple juice
1 oz (1/8 cup) raisins
1/2 small apple, peeled, cored and chopped
1/2 small pear, peeled, cored and chopped
1. Put all the ingredients into a small saucepan and bring to the boil.
2. Stir well, then reduce the heat and cover with a tight fitting lid.
3. Simmer the mixture for around 30 mins - by the end of the cooking time, the rice should have absorbed all the apple juice and should be nice and tender.
Rice cereal with pureed carrot and mashed banana (shu-yin's recipe)
1 oz (1/8 cup) ground brown rice
2oz carrot, peeled, cooked, pureed
1/2 banana, mashed
1. Cook the ground brown rice first.
2. Then add in the pureed carrot.
3. When the rice is cooked, stir in the mashed banana.

Yiu-Shern - Week19 to Week 27
Yiu-Shern - week 27
Shern took a liking to him immediately. Shern did not even make noise when he was being laid down for physical examination. He even smiled to Dr. Chiah.
I like Dr. Chiah alot. He is very thorough and I like that he supports the idea of giving solid to baby only after 6 mths old.
In the physical examination, he checked Shern's head, tummy, testis and even checked for cleft lips & palate when I told him that Shern likes to pretend to gag.
He was given the 3rd jab of the Hepatitis B there. This time, Shern was sitted on my lap while Dr. Chiah gave him the jab. He did not even cry when the needle was poked onto his thigh - but he cried for a mere 5 secs when the medication was injected inside.
Shern's growth measurement:
Age - 6 months @ 7 Dec 2009
Weight - 8.00 kg
Length/Height - 69 cm
Head Circumference - 44cm
Itching Gums
Shern's gums are still itchy. Everything within his reach still goes straight into his mouth. But nowadays he prefers things with harder texture. He prefers to bite on plastic toys compared to soft toys now.
Stranger Anxiety
He was better behaved with strangers. Shern now is ok with his Ah-Ma & Ah-Kong, though sometimes still protests when they carry him.
As of now, Shern is still mummy's little baby ;)
Pink Foam Playmat
Shern can kinda sit now - though he still can tumbles over. But we now put him down there with his toys for him to play, to learn how to sit and turn and crawl. He has more freedom there.
The best thing which I love is that we can also kneel down to his level and play together with him inside the mat. :)
Wa Wa Wa - Complain Before Sleep
Shern is into his complain mood. He will 'wa wa wa' for a long time before sleeping - sometimes even up to 15 minutes. It is really irritating to hear him.
Cheeky Shern
He is getting more and more cheeky each day. Sometimes he would wail as if he was being tortured. The next moment, he will look straight into your eye and grin and smile. You really cannot stay angry at him.
7 Dec 2009
Shern has graduated to eating sweet potatoes this week. He don't seem to like it much though I don't know why because they are so sweet and I love it. But he doesn't.
He will still eat but can't seem to finish a small bowl.
Outing to Island Plaza
We took Shern to Island Plaza. He was very fascinated with the running lights and the brightly lit Christmas Trees.
Now that Shern is 6 months old, we are bringing him out more and more.
-I bought many story books and now I am back to reading. So I have finished a few books these few weeks
-As you all should know, I baked oatmeal raisin choc chip cookies and it was super yummy.

Recycled Magazines Christmas Trees
I always like doing my part to save the environment.
Mum made these christmas trees using old magazines. She learned it from workplace. Aren't they beautiful?
HOW TO MAKE (courtesy of Just Like Martha)
What you need:
- Old Magazines
- Cup
- Ornaments; homemade or store-bought (optional)
Instructions:
1. The size of your tree will depend on the thickness and size of your magazine.
2. Open the cover then take the first page and fold it over like the picture below. Make sure you press the crease really well.
3. Then just fold it over again like below. Your first 'tree fold' is nearly finished.
4. Then just fold the bottom bit up.
6. Then at the end, rip off the outside cover of the magazine and there you have it your very own recycled Christmas tree!
7. If you like, you can add its very own decorations or star.
(For us, we put a cup below it and also added ornaments on it for extra B*L*I*N*K!)

Homemade Baby Food: Batch Cooking & Storage
To save time, I do batch cooking.
So far, Shern has tasted sweet potatoes, pumpkin, brocolli, and carrot.
Wash, chop, steam and blend the food and into ice cube trays they go.
They actually have specific baby food storage like Baby Cubes but they are expensive, about RM41.00 each tray. I use good quality ice cube trays with cover and they serve the purpose just fine! And the best thing is they costs only RM4.99 each.
Freeze them and then transfer them into Ziploc bags once they are solid. Write the date and name of food - first in, first out.
Now I have handy individual portions of Shern's food ready to be used.
I will cook rice cereal for him and then throw in a cube of brocolli and a cube of carrot into it. Or I will just simply mix 2 or 3 of the pureed food and serve.
I'm gonna try Shern on fruits next. And I'm going to make homemade vege stock for Shern to make his rice cereal more appetizing! :)
I believe in letting Shern enjoy wide range of flavours and textures.
Homemade baby food is so easy and fun to make!
p/s-Remember to apply the four day rule as you introduce each new food to your baby, in order to identify any potential allergies or digestive problems.
