Yiu-Shern - 32 Months

This post is almost 4 months overdue. :)

26 January 2012 - 32 months

Pediatrician Visit
Shern's growth measurement:
Age - 32 month @ 9 February 2012
Weight - 13.0 kg

It has been almost 4 months since Shern's last jab. This time we brought Shern to see Dr. Chiah for his 3rd Japanese Encephalitis (JE) jab. After this, no more jabs 'til Shern turns 5yo!
Shern as usual was very happy to see Dr. Chiah. He likes to go inside the room and play with the toys on the table. He is also someone who loves medicine so no problem whenever go see doctor.

Shern's weight lingers around the same weight, just a kg heavier compared to a few months ago. Shern is a small-sized kid. Well, I don't mind. I have been underweight all my life and I feel just fine.
Shern's Immunisation Schedule and Record Card

I captured this Immunisation Schedule and Record Card of Shern here so that if I somehow lose it, I still have all the records of his jabs. This card is getting rather shabby, with dog-ears here on all corners of the card. So I feel it is much safer I upload this in my blog. :)

Grolier

                                                                             1 February 2012

We bought this expensive Grolier education set (see top photo) for Shern when he was just a tiny baby. It was an impulse buy really. Lesson learnt: never, ever buy anything on impulse!
But I am glad Shern is now able to use it. He is rather quite interested in it. And I think Shern is quite clever to be able to mix and match the pictures according to the colours and such.
Wow, I am proud of my son!

School
This is also the month which I started Shern on playschool, which went quite well initially, but failed after a few days. It was only after a month plus later which I restarted Shern on playschool again.

Food
Shern has been eating well, with 2 big meals a day and lotsa snacks. Everything is his palate, except for fruits and veges. Veges very common not on the 'like list' for kids, but fruits....me too is as astounded as u!

Speech
Shern's speech is improving every month, with him expressing himself better. He can tell me if a person is feeling sad or happy or even angry by looking at their faces. And he can even tell me if he is feeling cold or hot.
And what I find is good that if he is in pain, he can now express it to me.
He says 'Shern-shern pain-pain in the stomach!'

Visiting Ah Hoe Chek
We have been visiting my school bus Ah Hoe Chek & Ah-Ee since 2009 and it has been a yearly affair. This year Ah Ee was not around but we all had a good time catching up with Ah Hoe Chek. Shern was very happy because now Ah Hoe Chek has a grandson around Shern's age and there were loads of toys for Shern to play around!

23 weeks Pregnant and Ready to Fly!

23 weeks pregnant - 24 May 2012

I am now 23 weeks pregnant, yes we pregnant ladies actually count by weeks and not months. But it is equivalent to roughly about 5 months pregnant. My bump is getting very big and obvious already.

About a month ago, hubby & I decided to have a little holiday, a babymoon before 'Lil Bub pops out, and poor mummy will be stuck in jail for the next year or so. So at the last minute, we booked a flight to Melbourne, Australia for 10 days. Yes, without Shern this time. It is winter time in Melb now so that would be a 'lil too cold for Shern, and a 'lil too weary for me to take care of Shern being 23 weeks preggy.

We are all packed up and ready to fly in a few hours!
Gosh, I'm starting to miss Shern already.

Shern to Taiping Zoo

Beginning of last month, we brought Shern to Taiping Zoo. It was Shern's first visit to the zoo. The night before, we told Shern that we are going to the zoo tomorrow and he would get to see many different animals and there would be a train. He was so excited when he heard the word 'train' and couldn't stop talking about the train!

Lucky for us, the weather was good and so we started our journey from Penang at about 7am. Stopped for dimsum breakfast takeaway and off we drove for another hour and a half. It was 9am when we reached Taiping Zoo.

We parked opposite the zoo, at the Lake Gardens (we didn't see the indoor carpark just next to the zoo) and took the underpass tunnel to cross the road.

Shern was posing with the fake crocodile while hubby went to get us tickets.
Entrance fee was RM10 for adults and free for children below 4yo.

11 April 2012 - Taiping Zoo

Then, Shern started asking us 'where is the train?'
So we decided to queue for the train queue, and also to kinda feel how does the whole park looks like.
We were not given any brochures on the zoo map and couldn't see any brochures available anywhere.

The train ride is already included in the entrance fee and you can ride as many times as you like, as long as you queue for it.
Shern was very happy and was giving us cheezy smiles the whole time waiting for our turn. He even gave us a perfect cheezy smile with his daddy, one of my favourite photos of all time, which I blogged about it in an earlier post!

He managed to get up the train and have some photos taken before the train chugged along.

A photo of the 3 of us.
Shern was asking me 'where is the seat belt?' when he got up the train. Haha.
I told him the seat belt is spoilt and uncle is fixing it. He knew he gotta wear seat belts whenever on any transport. Good boy.

A photo with mummy.

The train ride was quite long, about 15 mins ride. We took a ride round the whole park. Quite an enjoyable ride, and Shern loved it. We pointed out different animals to Shern but some were too fast for him to look at all while the train chugged past.

Once we got off the train, we popped Shern into his stroller and we pushed him along the road.
Stroller is highly recommended unless you want to carry your kid around. It is quite a big place to walk, even for adults. So kids will get tired.

Shern saw tigers...

Deers...

Flamingos, Giraffes, Ostriches...

 Mousedeers...

Zebras....

Black panthers...

 Rhinoceros...

And even a large monitor lizard was spotted at the playground inside the zoo.

Shern saw many other animals too. After 2 hours, we were all tired. Tired due to the heat of our climate. It was almost 11am then and the sun was up and bright. We were all sweaty. We actually only managed to walk 1/3 of the whole zoo!

We took Shern to queue for another round of train ride and then decided to go off.

It was so hot that all we wanted was to have lunch at some aircond place. We stopped at the nearest KFC and had a great lunch, enjoying the cool aircond. Shern ate wedges and mashed potatoes.

Reached Penang at 2pm, tired but happy. :D

Puppet Craft

The other day, Shern was getting a little restless at home, so I decided to get creative with him and so some craft with him.

I digged out two toilet rolls and then took out some leftover felts and did some cutting. Then I asked Shern to identify which are the eyes, ears mouth and hair, etc.
I wanted to let Shern have some handson. I put some glue on them and let Shern did the glue-on and he was very happy. He wanted purple (his favourite) shirt for his puppet and then I made the other puppet a blue shirt.

                                          12 May 2012

This is the end results of our two puppets.
I asked him what is the puppets' name. He said Purple Puppet and the other Blue Puppet! Haha, so much for creativity!

Shern was trying to peek through the hole of his puppet.

I asked Shern to pose with the 2 puppets so that I can take a photo of him with the puppets. Don't know why he kept on putting the puppets next to his face. So these 2 photos are the only ones I managed to capture!

 Then Shern said he wanted to drink milk so I made him some milk.

Then he went to 'feed' his puppet milk, coz he said Purple Puppet is hungry! Hahaha :D

Having a Haircut with Dumbo

Shern has this Dumbo the Elephant soft toy from Oumama & Oupapa for Christmas last year. Although Shern is not too fond of soft toys, he is somehow rather fond of Dumbo.

He sleeps with Dumbo every night.
And when he goes for his haircuts, he has been bringing Dumbo with him the last two times. He said he wants 'Dumbo watch him cut hair'.

Well, for me, anything goes. As long as he is willing to have his haircut with no fuss. Well, it has been a long time since he was screaming his head off while having his hair cut. He has been a good boy ever since 1 1/2 year ago.

These 2 photos were taken about 3 mths ago. Shern was having a haircut just after CNY. Shern was holding on to Dumbo on the car ride to the salon. And do you notice Dumbo sitting on the left on top of the magazine rack?
                                                                                                      3 March 2012

And these 2 photos were taken just last Saturday. Dumbo was sitting on the usual place watching Shern having his hair cut. And Shern being a happy boy after his hair cut! ;)

Super Impressed with Martha Stewart Customer Service!

If you know me or has been following me on Facebook, you would probably know that I do scrapbooking. I haven't post up my cards and layouts in blog, but I do so in facebook.

Well, as a scrapbooker, I hoard many scrapbooking tools and stuff. One of my favourite tool is Martha Stewart's Punch-All-Over Classic Butterfly Punch.

It is actually one of those few I use very often. Yesterday, I tried punching with it and it just wouldn't punch. I shook it and could hear a sound inside the puncher, as if a spring or something has been broken inside!

I was so sad, because it is my favourite punch and I think I bought it for about RM100 plus minus. So I just did what I could at that time and emailed Martha Stewart's customer service.

And guess what? In less than 6 hours, and 3 emails from them, they said they will order a new punch and send it to me once they received it. All the way to Penang, Malaysia! Wow!

Let me tell you, I am super impressed!
I can't stop going on and on to hubby on how efficient their customer service is and how much they value customer feedback. And they didn't even asked me to send over my spoilt punch.

Well, I haven't received the item yet of course. But once I do, I will definitely update it in this post. And just for your info, I am now a loyal fan of Martha Stewart's products!

p/s - I went to Melbourne for 10 days and when I'm back, I received the parcel at my postbox. I am very, very impressed with them. This experience has made me into a loyal Martha Stewart products fan! :D

Celebrating Mother's Day with a Treasured Craft Piece

When I was celebrating Mother's Day for the first time ever back in 2010, Shern was too small to know what is going on. So hubby gave me a Radley handbag on behalf of Shern. I love the bag.

This year, Shern is almost 3yo and is big enough to wish me 'Happy Mother's Day' and showered me with slobbering kisses. And....Shern made me something from playschool. It's the first ever craft he brought home and I'm so gonna keep it for the next 50 years or so. It's a door hanger which reads 'Today Is My Mummy Day Off'.

I know most of it are done by his teachers, but I am still terrible proud. He told me he was the one who stuck the sticker and also looped the ribbons through the holes. A bit of a mess but is still a beautiful piece of art in my eyes. My most treasured craft piece.
And of course the words didn't mean a thing. I did not get any day off! I was still shrieking my head off for Shern to bathe and sleep. ;)

We wanted to go up Penang Hill on Mother's Day. Not planning to do anything special up there. Maybe just for Shern to run about the playground there. But I know Shern would be thrilled to sit in the funicular train up Penang Hill. Too bad it was raining. The playground would be all wet and it wouldn't be very pleasant to walk about in the rain holding an umbrella. So we skipped the idea.

We then drove to Prangin Mall and had lunch at JL Gourmet, one of my favourite place. Then Shern made a fuss so we went home. And for dinner, we ate a monster meal at Sakae Sushi. Yeaps, nothing special on Mother's Day.

The next day, hubby then brought me for a belated mother's day hi-tea. Woo hoo!
I was stuffed full with chicken and mushroom pie, scones, smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches, cakes and cookies. The portion was huge and I was bloated by the time I stepped out of Suffolk House. Thank you hubby. I love you. ;)

And I'm so ever grateful to be given a chance to be a mum to my baby Shern. It's really an honour! I love you.

Halfway Journey With Lil Bub - 21 weeks

9 May 2012 - 21 weeks

It's been quite awhile since my last update on Lil Bub. Well, I have been carrying Lil Bub past the halfway mark in this pregnancy already. Now in my 2nd trimester, it is actually so much easier. I am starting to gain weight now that I am no more vomiting and my appetite is really growing. I am about 51kg now.

The above photo of my tummy actually looks much smaller than real life. My tummy is actually bigger. It is no more just a small bulge, I look really pregnant now. But many people comment that my tummy is small for 5 mths. However my sis told me it is actually bigger than my first pregnancy with Shern.

And ohh, I felt Lil Bub's kicks and punches somewhere around week 16. It was mild at first, a little rubble here and there. Then it got stronger and by 18 weeks, I could feel Lil Bub doing somersaults inside my tummy. Now at 21 weeks, Lil Bub is usually most active at night when I am about to go to bed. Feeling the baby move inside me is the nicest feeling in the world, something only pregnant mums get to feel. :)

Just came back from the gynae this morning and doctor said everything is normal and fine. Lil Bub's head circumference and length are both 21 weeks which is on par with my pregnancy so far. And my weight gain is finally looking good!

Conversation with Shern @ 2 years 10 months - Part 2

Shern is getting more and more vocal and he now thinks before answering, giving me rather cute and surprising answers. So this is the part 2 of my recent conversation I had with Shern.

Shern: Mummy, please come sit the slide with Shern-Shern.
Me: Mummy is too big and cannot fit into the slide.
Shern: When mummy become small-small, then mummy come sit the slide with Shern-Shern.
Me: :)

Shern: Yee-yee, ai mai see Thomas, ai mai? AI YAA!!!
(self question, self reply. :)

~~~~~~~~~~
Shern: Yee-yee, ai open fridge. i THINK got chocolate.
(after we surrender and took one chocolate from the hidden compartment)
Shern: see, got already! last one only okay?
Me: When baby comes out, mummy have to sleep on the bed, to take care of baby when baby cries. Then Shern-Shern sleep down here with daddy, ok?
Shern: Mummy sleep up there, mummy take care of baby. Shern-Shern sleep with daddy, Shern-Shern takes care of daddy!
Me: Haha, good boy.
Shern was watching cartoon Mickey Mouse riding on a rainbow.
Shern: mummy, pls bring me to the rainbow.
Me: Only in cartoons they can go to the rainbow. The rainbow is up in the sky where we can't reach. So we can't go there.
Shern: When the rainbow come down, then mummy bring Shern-Shern there!
Me: ;p
